Halloween in Engineering
Crew member Mariah Jones looked back over her own shoulder, nervously.
After a few seconds, she turned back to the, for the moment obidient,
console. She had a feeling something would happen, and soon.
Deep down, she knew this was the night she'd pay for her foolish
mistakes, but she tried to shake it off. That same night was Halloween.
The warp core hummed steadily. She was all alone.
*
There was a sound behind her, and Mariah spun around clumpsily,
holding on to the steady piece of equipment she now had her back to.
All blood left her face, her eyes grew round, hands became cold and
coated with a fine layer of cold sweat. It was time.
Suddenly, a long harangue of undecipherable words hit her, like a hard
fist. She'd heard the rumors, the detailed testemonies her fellow
staff members so villingly offered.
Mariah's eyes were fixed at a spot some where in front of her
unpolished boots. Her hands gripped the console firmly.
There was only one thing flying through her head, and it kept
repeating itself over and over.
She would never neglect a report for Lieutenenant Torres again.
*THE END*
