Where am I? What is this place? There is no end . . .no beginning . . . no
nothing. I'm walking. . . but where am I going? I've been walking since I
can remember. Lost. . . forever. . . I can't see anything in this abyss.
Am I blind? Or is this darkness just too thick? Even though I cannot see,
I know I can hear. I can hear my own footsteps. . . I can hear my
heartbeat. . . Was there a place before this abyss? Where was I? I wasn't
always here, I'm sure of that. . .
Falling. . . I remember falling. . . and then I was here, walking and wondering endlessly. Before I was in this desert of forever I was falling. I fell for what seemed like forever. There was something before that, too. . .
A face. . . a boy. . . he's young, just approaching adolescence. Wild brown hair and blue eyes. Eyes like the sea. The sea. . . that word brings back almost-remembered memories. And a girl. . . She too is young, near, but not yet reborn in adolescence. . . She has short, dark brown hair. It's smooth. . . very pretty. . . Her eyes are smiling at me. She's happy. . . and carefree. . .
I am not walking now. I'm not even standing. The ground is gone, but I'm not falling this time. Sort of floating. Not moving in any direction. . . just floating in this darkness. Who is that boy? And that carefree girl? They both seem very familiar. . . Names. . . I hear them being whispered. . .
"Kairi is the girl. The boy. . . is Sora."
. . . Sora
