Tears of the soul
Prologue
Debra Austin stared straight ahead unable to comprehend that she was really in that small cemetery. She desperately wished that her husband were there with her, telling her that it was nothing but a horrible dream. But then she remembered that her husband was the reason she was at that gravesite in the first place.
Although things between Steve and Debra had not been the best in the last year, they'd recently begun to reconcile and try to patch up their marriage. In fact things seemed to be getting better overall for Steve since he'd returned to the WWF after taking almost 9 months off. Steve had called her after WrestleMania, hurting after his loss to Rock, but eager to get the Great One back for it. Eric Bischoff however, took all that away from Steve. The man practically ended her husband's life in an instant.
'Bastard might as well have pulled the trigger,' Debra thought bitterly.
The blonde woman only listened vaguely as the minister preached about life and death, and how death was not an end to things. Debra wasn't so sure anymore. Not after the personal hell she'd been in since the night Eric pulled out that fake medical chart and fired Steve on national TV because of what it said. Not since she got the call from a grief - stricken JR later that night to tell her the consequences of what Eric had done in revealing that fake medical chart. She was numb now. She didn't think she could cry anymore.
After the eulogies were given, the people in the funeral filed past the closed casket, denying people one last look at somebody they had once cared for.
The reason for the closed casket was that Steve Austin's head was half gone after he'd put a shotgun bullet through his skull.
As Debra Austin filed past, she placed her own head on top of the cool mahogany surface of the casket and sobbed. She finally found enough tears in her soul to let the world know one last time how she'd felt about this man.
I'm sorry it was short. There will be more soon.
