Want, take, break

By Megan@Midnight

Spoiler for Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Agent Ajedrez is seriously fucked up.

When she kisses him he tastes of smoke and sunlight. He's so beautiful, when you get through the layers of stupid shirts and ugly hats, he looks like nothing less than perfection with a tan. Sheldon Sands glows from the inside. He's so bright he burns when he touches her. When he's dressed he reminds her of a peacock, bright colors and showmanship, flashing his tail for all to see. When he's not, he burns like flames against her skin.

Every touch marks her skin and she hates it. She hates him. Ajedrez hates his hands and his mouth and his skin and that oh so strong attraction. When he's inside her, she bites. On the chest, shoulder anywhere. Just to hear the shriek, "Ow!" She makes him bare her mark. The bruises are dark, but they don't seem to phase him. They don't dim his light.

Ajedrez knows she is dark. Her father is a monster, she acknowledges this. And if he is a monster then so is she. Sands for all his killing and his manipulation and his little plans, is not. No matter what he does, he cannot be a monster. A bastard fucker who needs a good kick in the fork yes, but not a monster. Sands believes in his balance. He believes in himself. He believes and it burns her. She believes in nothing. She hates him.

When she tells him to her father (Barillo, monster, father) he smiles. He tells her she's a good daughter. She knows that the good daughter of a monster is also a monster. She is a monster and it makes her want to taste blood in Sands' mouth.

When they take her lovers' eyes, she watches and she laughs. He screams and fights, but it does nothing. She puts him in darkness and waits to see how long her survives the cold dark of nothingness.

When she sees him on the street, dressed in black, bleeding, she has to have a taste. "You fucking little monkey." She mocks as his sunglasses stare up at her. "Get up." She jerks him to his feet and presses her lips to his in a parody of times past. He tastes of smoke and sunlight still, but now she can taste blood. His blood in her mouth. Finally. She wants to laugh out loud. She's hurt him, broken him, brought out the dark in him. Shown him. "See anything you like?" The gun is a surprise.

As she falls she hears him say, "No." He's not so broken after all. It's the last thought she'll ever have before the darkness takes her for the final time.
