I Can't Deny My Feelings For You~
I wanted you to know my side of
This damned situation, and
You can't even look at me without being sickened,
Not that I don't understand
~
But, believe me, when I say that
It's hard to see you every night, as you walk from
One place to the next
And to see you smile a smile that lights up the entire
Boulevard, and know that it's not
For me
~
Please understand that I did what I did for you
Not for my loyalties and all that shit
But for my heart, or what's left of
It
~
You are the only one who will ever make me see my full
Potential in life, and the only one
Who makes me feel worthy enough to be allowed
To touch your soft features
~
And yes. I am the Prince of all that's corrupt and evil,
And you, my goddess, are the purest thing I have ever seen
I realize that, but please
Give me a second try at fate,
And I'll show it exactly what I feel about it
~
I never beg, have never wanted to, but I will now.
When I saw how you looked at me,
I died one more time.
I prayed with all the good that remains inside this stupid shell,
That you'd forgive me. But then again,
Who would listen to me?
~
Hear me out, if not in my voice and my presence, but by words.
The lingering touch from your mind to mine makes me go insane
At night, when I dream of your ethereal face
And even when I close my eyes, while I'm
Wide awake
I see you
~
I can't write to save my life, and I'm sure this bull will make
You despise me all the more, and
I will never be the sensitive man you want me to be,
But I can change, and
I *have* changed for you
~
So please... one more chance for the man
With no more chances?
Please... Serena?

With a disgusted growl, Stanton ripped up the poem into shreds. What was he thinking? Serena was intelligent and cultured, and knew what poetry was. This... crap wasn't even worth lining her raccoon's litter box with. Glancing one last time at his scribbled mess, Stanton threw the pieces into the fire and watched as it shriveled up into ashes.
' At least now I have something to compare my heart with...'

A/N: Ah... poor Stanton. Anyways, I did write that poem from scratch, and I know it's really lame, but at least it has a little relevance. If you were wondering why the stanzas were separated so strangely, it's due to my word processor, and its difficulty in working on FF.net. Please review and let me know how you thought this was! ^__^ Arigato!
