You Were My Friend

Mulder's Apt. Room 42 8:52 a.m.

The beautiful auburn-haired Scully exited out of an elevator on a fourth floor apartment complex. She made her way to room 42, Mulder's apartment.

To her surprise, when she was about to knock on the door, Mulder already opened it.

"Hello Scully." He greeted casually, as if it weren't a coincidence.

"How did you do that Mulder?" Scully asked very puzzled.

He rubbed his temples and said, "I'm psychic."

"Ha, ha, very funny." She said sarcastically.

He smiled and gazed at her cerulean eyes.

"How are you feeling?" She inquired.

"A lot better than I was before." He answered.

"You know," Scully started, "I actually thought I was going to lose you. I didn't know who to trust anymore." She started to blink away tears that stung from behind her oceanic eyes.

Mulder cupped her face with his hands and pressed a light kiss on her forehead.

"This morning," she began, looking at him, "I found out that Agent Fowely was murdered. I know that you loved her and I couldn't trust her, I didn't trust her, when I should have all along. I felt so insecure, there was no one I could look to, to shed light on the facts that were right under my nose."

She began to sob and weep uncontrollably. Her last sentence was barely above a whisper.

"I'm sorry."

Mulder wrapped his arms around her. Holding her to him, close and tightly. In submission, she wrapped her arms around him.

His left arm fell to his side and his right arm traveled up to her cheek. He stroked it softly, caressing it. Scully's eyes closed tightly, savoring the moment.

Without them noticing, their bodies began to move closer to eachother and then the space between their lips began to narrow. Then suddenly, Scully felt his lips caress hers. She felt as if she died and gone to heaven.

'This is paradise.' She thought.

When they parted, Mulder once again gazed into her cerulean eyes. Except he gazed deeply into her soul, wanting to know what she truly desired. And then, after all these years, he finally knew what she wanted. She wanted Mulder's affection, his love.

He smiled at her and led her into his apartment. They lay on the couch and watched, "Steel Magnolias" Then after the movie was over, and they fell asleep in each other's arms.
