Perhaps, this is not explaining, this is an article telling the difference between Subaru and Mimiru.

Personally, I liked the coupling of Tsukasa/Mimiru more than Tsukasa/Subaru. Cuz Mimiru is a very optimistic person, easy going and nice. Everything is happy, is my opinion of her, you're lucky if got a friend like that, she's the kind of ppl always gives hope to ppl, to me, she helped a lot for Tsukasa, I believe she was the one who opened up Tsukasa, letting him start to recontact with ppl again. Subaru, well, she's a kind of heart to heart talk every time person. I don't hate her, really. Instead, her action of declaring the Crimson Knight made me shocked, she's brave, knowing what might happen and what should be done, the reason of formating Crimson Knights, and if the reason was lost, then there were no more reason to continuing the Knights.....An honorable person, she stood for many things...I admired her.

Perhaps a lot ppl hate Subaru. Anyway, if you hate her for no reason, then the thing downstairs would be completely useless to you, don't care it, hate her as you like, don't care, don't bother.

And the downstair thing also doesn't belonged to me, it was an article from a magazine, translated by me.

So, I don't own .hack//, nor the article, no earn, no profit. I own my words only.

The relationship between Tsukasa and Subaru were one of the important part of later .Hack//Sign. The reason that Subaru took the place of Mimiru, was because Tsukasa & Subaru's reason of Logging into The World was an opposite. Tsukasa came to avoid contact people and as an escape of reality. But Subaru came to meet people instead. perhaps also the loneliness deep inside Subaru's heart, made her pay more attention to Tsukasa, and guide him out of the darkness, Morganna.

But if you look deeper, Tsukasa was a strange kid, but from Tsukasa's childhood memories, we strongly believe that he had petty autism. He/She was like the case in EVA(If you know what I mean, the main character) ...The problem that Tsukasa didn't know how to make contact with people, mainly from her unsuccessful contact with ...(let just call it)Friends and he/she became a bit 'closure'(or just simply autism if you don't understand) and became abhorrent to reality.

relatively, Subaru, because of her disability, she was surrounded by different kinds of protect(not only physically, but also mentally), made her didn't know how to make contact with people. Until the formation of the Crimson Knights, alas, she broke through her fear and found the way of understanding and make contact with the others.

(a/n: Confused? Here comes the conclusion)

The reason that Subaru took the place of guiding Tsukasa, but not Mimiru, was because Mimiru was a normal person, she didn't have the same pain as Tsukasa, that she couldn't reach the fear inside Tsukasa. Morganna told Tsukasa to make contact with Mimiru, was because Mimiru would treat Tsukasa as a normal person, so that Tsukasa couldn't be comfort, instead he/she'll become more depress. This wasn't saying that 'Only the ones who had pain before can comfort other's pain', but 'Understand doesn't equal to caring nor pity'! Caring a person but only think in your own view, to the person who've cared, it MAY be harsh too that person. Subaru guided Tsukasa out of his darkness, was because she came from that loneliness too, she knew that pain.
