Ah, my dears. There are days I wonder why I go to church… They started singing this particular little hymn, and the story popped into my head. It's a nice little short bit of nothing. As for who wrote the song, I haven't a clue. Wasn't me.

"More love…" Jewel sang, her eyes darting occasionally to the sullen man sitting several seats over. It wasn't the first time her thoughts had brought him to mind during this song, but it was the first time she'd ever seen him—or his family, for that matter—in church.

Normally, she and her children had the row to themselves, and she'd been known to giggle when this song was chosen. Today, she was having a much harder time than usual keeping her face straight, since the reason for her giggles was occupying her row. Why in the world had the Briefs descended, en masse, to her church? It was quite thoroughly unlike them.

She didn't for a moment think any of them were regular attendees anywhere else. The elder couple looked around, pointing out to each other various things that caught their attention, rather than singing. Bulma couldn't sing if she'd wanted to, she had her hands full keeping a very restless Bra from wandering around the church. Trunks, while looking almost as sullen as his father, was at least standing and mouthing the words. The fact that her daughter and several other girls were giving him admiring looks probably accounted for why he didn't look as cranky. He and Vegeta certainly hadn't come willingly! So why were they here?

"More power…More of you in my life..." She lost the war, as she'd known she would. A brilliant smile and giggle escaped her. She shot a quick look at Vegeta, who was always wanting more power, more strength. Her smile widened a trifle when he caught her looking.

"More love, more power…" She pointed at him before returning her attention to the screen displaying the words. "More of you in my life." She shook her head slightly, grinning at the faint growl she heard. "I will worship you with all of my heart, I will worship you will all of my mind, I will worship you with all of my strength," she sang, ignoring him, though she could feel the heat of his gaze. Her short-cropped blond hair swirled gently along her chin when she turned just enough to meet furious eyes. "You are my Lord," she continued, nodding slightly, "You are my Lord." His eyes widened in shock, then narrowed angrily.

She proceeded to ignore the entire family for the rest of the service, slipping out the door she'd sat next to as soon as it ended. By the time Vegeta and his family got outside, she and hers were gone.

Vegeta snarled. He hadn't wanted to come, but Bulma's parents had insisted the entire family have a "religious" experience. Bulma had told him they did so about once every 10 years or so. He'd flatly refused to go with them. And then he'd discovered just how determined Mrs. Briefs could be. The woman had followed him everywhere. She'd waited outside the bathroom and GR, followed him everywhere he hadn't flown—and had managed to follow him to a few of those places! After a month of next to no privacy and continuous pouting and pleading, he'd told her he'd go on the condition she never bring it up again.

So what happened? A vaguely familiar female makes fun of him! He stopped snarling suddenly. Familiar? Why? He'd never seen her before… no, it hadn't been the sight… Scent!

I suppose I could have taken that last bit out. This is all you get, because it's a part of the "life-story" of Jewel, and that's nc-17 and then some… Not to mention completely ridiculous…
