Chapter 1: Drowning

What was he doing there? He's just standing out in the rain, she thought. She peered from the lacy curtains feeling the delicate fabric under fingertips. Her hand slowly made its way to the glass window pane caked with a few days' dust. The rain made little waterfalls on the window with a soft pitter patter. It was a soothing sound that could put her to sleep. She heaved a sigh and watched him stare at the old building. Hoping that he wouldn't come in, she moved away from the window and sank to the hard and unforgiving wood floor. The pain of seeing him was too much for her to handle after all the emotional stress she was put through the past few days.  Her pale blue yes watered and she fought the tears with every last fiber of her very soul. It was still no use because the tears rolled on through like the steady waters of a river.

The door creaked slowly at the other end of the room, letting the soft rain sounds flow into the abandoned building. She was crying too much to even notice him shut the door behind him. Their eyes locked and she sat up in place as she wiped away the last of her tears. She calmly tried to steady her breathing. Her heart was pounding faster and faster and she could swear that it was louder than the rain pounding against the windows. Neither one would dare break the silence as if their very beings depended on it.

Water droplets slid down his silky blonde hair and dripped. Both of them thought their old secret meeting place would be empty, and unfortunately both thought alike. They hadn't spoken in a few days after all the incidents, and it didn't look like they would start now.

He breathed in, she breathed out. It was a steady rhythm and they stayed that way for quite some time.

"Helga—I—I can't. I can't do this right now," he half whispered. He shook the rain off of him before heading towards the door, but his hand stopped midair. A delicate hand tugged on the soaking wet hem of his shirt.

"Don't go. Please, whatever you do don't go," she pleaded, her blue eyes filled with anticipation. He stared at her for a moment before closing his eyes for a moment. He moved the hair in front of her face gently and tucked it behind her ear. She closed her eyes and shuddered at his touch. He kissed her forehead gently and watched tears form in the crescents of her half lidded eyes. Wiping away at them, he left swiftly. She didn't even have a chance to open her eyes before realizing it was too late. He was gone.

Sinking to the floor again, she felt the good memories come flooding back. A tiny smile appeared on her face but it faded at the cold realization that there wouldn't be anymore memories like those again.

"You're toxic." She was lost in a reverie of when they first met. She was sinking deeper and deeper and this time she might not make it out.

"I'm swimming in our memories and I'm afraid I might drown," she said aloud to her self.

Olga's perfect piano playing skills were daintily touching the piano keys. She was playing one of Beethoven's symphonies and Helga was too young to tell which…

Well what do you think? Its going to come out slowly, her recalling their good times and bad times together. Ending before the beginning. Or is it the end? Please review!
