Disclaimer: I do not own StarCraft: Brood War, though I would really wish to. SC is owned by Blizzard and so are all the units. Dargon is my original character. The plot was influenced from different stories and my need to use an original character. Don't sue me; I am simply writing this story to thank Blizzard for making such a great game.

StarCraft: Brood War – Last Breath

Prologue: Last Act

A roar reverberated through the rocky wastelands of Korhal as a Vulture sped through, kicking up dust in its wake. The driver glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing the ominous dark cloud behind him. He switched on the ion engines, trying to get more distance between him and the storm. He didn't want to get stuck in the rain.

The rain held too many dark memories.

He cursed as he saw the storm catching up; things never went his way. Glancing around him frantically, the driver never saw the ditch until he was flying through the windshield and into the air, his Vulture slamming into a nearby rock. He landed near the smoldering heap of metal, his body shaking from sudden pain that accompanied his fall. His face and chest were cut from the glass and his legs were broken.

                He could not get up.

He watched through glazed eyes as the sky turned dark and it began to rain. At first, they were innocent drops of water but as the storm grew worse and his vision began to fail, all he could see were rivers of blood, slowly running over his body. All went dark.

***

My life was a play, a series of acts that were unhindered by scripts or themes. No, this play was guided through my actions, my emotions.

But all things must come to an end, good or bad.

This is my last act of my short life. It has been too long since I have found true rest, sleep that will heal my scarred mind of its wounds and pains.

Soon, I will take my last breath.

                It will all end soon.

A/N: It is ironic, that this is the beginning of my story and I'm already hinting at the end. No matter, you will all see what I have planned, in due time. Until then, fight on…
