OH, DEAR RAHAB

To the tune of "Oh, Susanna"

We have come down from the Israelites to spy on Jericho.

Even though you dwell among our foes, Rahab don't make us go.

When the king found out that we were here he got a good deal mad.

He said, "If you don't send out those spies then you'll be really sad."

(Chorus)

Oh, dear Rahab, oh, don't you cry, oh no.

For we've come down from the Israelites to spy on Jericho.

But before the message had thus come you hid us on the roof.

Under flax we lay so no one would think anything aloof.

When the soldiers came to question you, you lied right to their face.

You said, "They fled straight through the gate so you better give a chase."

 (Chorus)

You then told us how the people here are full of mighty fear.

You said with a God as great as ours, our victory was near.

You then begged us not to let you or your family have to die.

"Let my kindness be repaid by you, spare my family's life, please try."

(Chorus)

You let us pass through your windowsill, which was made into the wall.

With a scarlet cord we did descend to help prevent a fall.

Tie this cord upon your window and no one will harm you house.

But about our dealing here you must be silent as a mouse.

(Chorus)
