.17 years later.Emma's 18th Birthday.
48-year-old Rachel Greene had just finished applying her cherry red lipstick when she heard the door open. In walked her husband of 16 years, Ross Gellar, who had just returned from the store. "Rach," he said, "Do we really need all this food? It's just gonna be 6 other people."
"Of course we need all of this! It's Emma's 18th Birthday! It has to be special!" Rachel cried.
"Al right, if you insist," Ross replied. "When is everyone supposed to get here anyway?"
"Umm.Chandler, Monica, Daniel, Phoebe, Mike, and the twins are supposed to get here at 7:00. And Joey probably isn't going to get here until 7:30."
"And where's Emma?"
"Upstairs, in her room," Rachel said as she opened the oven to check on the cake.
"Uh, Rach?" Ross asked cautiously, "It's almost seven now."
"What?!?!" Rachel shrieked, looking at the clock. "Oh! Go get Emma! They're going to be here soon!"
Just as she had said this the doorbell rang. Rachel rushed over and swung open the door.
"Hi! Oh my gosh! How are you?" Rachel cried. Behind the door were her friends Monica and Chandler and their 16-year-old son, Daniel, whom they had adopted.
"It's so great to see you again!" said Monica, "It's been so long! We really need to go out sometime. Oh! Phoebe and Mike are here with the twins. They followed us here."
"Oh yeah! Hi!" Rachel said, realizing just how strange she must have sounded.
"Hey Rach!" said Phoebe, who was followed by her husband, Mike, and their 10-year-old twins, Lilly and James.
After many more salutations, the group migrated inside the apartment where Ross was waiting with Emma. "Happy Birthday!" everyone shouted.
"Oh, thank you," said Emma. "It's so great to see you all."
Just then, the doorbell rang and Emma jumped up to answer it. "Oh! I'll get it!" she cried and hurried to the door. She open it and found behind it Joey Tribianni. "Hey!" he said. "Happy Birthday!" they both hugged for a moment before Emma led his back to the living room where everyone was seated.
"Okay! Let's open presents!" shouted Rachel.
"Rach, don't you think we should wait a while, I mean, everyone just got here," Ross said.
"Oh.okay.."replied Rachel. "How about I go get the cake? Then, we can open presents while we eat?"
"Umm..okay," Ross said, knowing the he shouldn't argue with his wife.
Rachel returned a few moments later carrying a pink frosted cake. After everyone had been served, Rachel reached for a box wrapped in blue paper. "This one is from me!" she said.
"Oh!" said Emma, opening the box to reveal a beautiful sweater. "It's lovely!"
"I know!" said her mother. "It's a Ralph Lauren. I got a discount!"
"Here," said Ross, handing his daughter a small box. Emma opened it carefully. "Isn't it neat?" Ross asked. "It's a snow globe depicting a scene that might have occurred during the Mesozoic era."
"Oh.what a cute.. monkey."Emma said.
"Hee hee." laughed Joey. "There's no clothes on it!"
"Joey!" they all cried. After the others had finished distributing gifts, all of which pertained to the gift-givers personality, they put in the tape that they had all helped to make for Emma's first Birthday, and laughed as they watched it.
