The burning fortress
Thought the burning fortress he hides
His rage consumes him, he wishes to die
The fires of hell surround and sweeps the fields
There is someone in him in which he yields.
Long ago he was someone else
Someone of hope and light
But madmen took her away
Now he's full of evil and spite.
Ruby flames lick the walls, with his voice he screams
Black smoke is choking at his lungs
"Iam lost and alone." He believes.
He thrashes about with his sword, but the blade and hilt melt like lead,
He tries to fight his way out, but the dragon's breath fights him instead.
There is neither door nor window in which he can escape
The floor is cracking beneath his feet
He runs into the hall, the red lights are blinding him
He is slowly getting weak.
He keeps on going, with his arm shielding his eyes
The person or people who would have done this are the ones that he
despised.
There are voices around him, saying he'll die
They are the voices of the madmen that changed him
Will this be his late night alive?
He runs down to the last floor, he runs to the entrance door
It burns to nothing; the fortress is no more.
He turns around and all he sees is flames
The fire was his power, but these were flames of shame.
He stands in the middle of the room, the roof is about to cave in
He sits and curls up in a ball; he is haunted by his own sins.
He starts to cry, he wishes he was gone
Then suddenly he hears a forgotten song
He opens his eyes more; there is no one there
He doesn't have to look, he knows there is no one anywhere.
The floor caves in and he starts to fall
In the deep darkness he doesn't care at all.
He's falling head first, and turning as he goes
He's falling to the depths of hell for all he knows.
He stops spinning, and looks into the nothing
Somehow he wishes there were someone or something.
His tears fall upward while he goes down
He is alone and there is no sound.
Though his blurry vision he sees someone
Someone he use to be
Someone that he had forgotten,
Someone to only exist in his dreams.
It was the one of light from long ago
Before she became a curse
He reached out his arms and so did hers.
He was the raven, she was the dove
The darkness could not hold them both
And they became one.
The starry night sky flew over the dead fortress
The air was cleaning the smoke
It was not long before
The two figures awoke.
They were lying in each other's arms
When they were waking from their sleep
Their eyes meet and started to blush a red-deep.
They both sat up and turned toward the remains
The fortress had burned to nothing, the fire cease to be insane.
They both help each other up, holding each other by the hand
Their love is growing from where they stand.
They hold each other again, and as they both know
That thought the darkest black they will never let go.
He looked up at the sky, stars and moon and then back down at her
He finally felt at peace and his hope started to stir.
A feather of ebony and a feather of ivory fell to the ground
For they were from the black and white flames
In time things were never going to be the same
The two figures started to walk away, under the company of the stars above
For as far as they live, they will forever be one.
