Disclamer: I don't own it. Just goes to show you how stupid war really is. One shot.

A 17 year old boy should be able to do many things and have fun doing them. However, this wasn't the case for Harry Potter. He was a boy with the world on his shoulders, a world he was expected to save. Voldemort regained power in Harry's fourth year and his reign of terror started not long after that. The dark mark was a common thing to see in the sky now. The ministry had seen the error of their ways and now were begging forgiveness from the Order they had tried so hard to disband.

Far away from the grief-stricken earth, a celestial chessboard was being set up. Who would win?

******************************************************************************

As always in chess, the white went first. And the first can make or break a game. The object of the game is to protect the king. The pawns would do that at all costs. Like in most games, the pawns are always lost, and therefore mut be willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I vow, to you my country,

All earthly things above

Entire and whole and perfect

The service of my love

The love that asks no questions

The love that stands the test

That lays upon the alter

The dearest and the best

The love that never falters,

The love that pays the price

The love that makes undaunted

The final sacrifice

******************************************************************************

The losses were staggering, for both sides. Was it possible for the entire wizarding race to be wiped out, by its own people?

******************************************************************************

The kings met, in the middle of the board, sacred hallowed ground, where blood was shed once and would be shed again. Both were prepared, not to lose, but to win.

******************************************************************************

The victory was hollow. The proud people of a race gone. Their lands and homes destroyed. It was time to end. Nothing to go on, to renew, to start again.

The lone survivor laid his head down and died, finally at peace. An ancient era wept for the new generations, for the world that was, will never be again.

******************************************************************************

The celestial king threw down his crown. His reign was over. Or was it really just beginning? The stars sparkled, and the world went on.

A/N Just something that was on my mind. The words are from the song HOMELAND. Review if you want.
