CC: For once, I'm doing a one-shot fic. No chapters, no divisions, its all right here.

Disclaimer: I don't own Shaman King. well, duh.

(A/N: This entire story is told from Yoh's POV.)

"Hey, why isn't Anna with you?" Manta had asked me as I arrived at school alone.

I replied, "She wasn't feeling so well today, so she stayed home."

"Guess that means you catch a break today."

I laughed. "Nah, I still have to do everything I would normally, plus I have to stop every so often to take care of her!"

Manta laughed too. Then he asked, "How can you put up with her 24 hours a day? I know I couldn't do that."

Now, what Manta didn't understand was that there was another side to Anna. A kinder, gentler side. Much kinder and gentler.

*flashback*

It was getting late, but there had been something bothering me. Surprisingly, though, Amidamaru didn't seem to sense anything wrong. Then I heard footsteps in the hall. An intruder would be trying to mask the sound entirely, so I figured it had to be Anna, coming to make sure I was asleep so I'd be well rested for the next day's training. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper, so I guess she didn't feel the need to be extra quiet. I quickly started pretending to be asleep, right before she entered. However, I was not prepared for what happened next.

Rather than leaving after seeing that I was asleep, she laid down next to me. She took me in her arms and started gently stroking my back. It was soothing, but I couldn't say anything, for I was supposed to be asleep. She wrapped her entire body around mine, and then she kissed me. The physical pleasure was so great that I could barely feel the mental pain of not being able to return this gesture. Then she quietly whispered, as if she could tell that I wasn't really asleep and wanted me to hear, "Oh, how I wish we could do this when you were awake. But if you are to become the Shaman King, you must spend all of your time training. Once the tournament is over, everything will be okay." She paused, and continued, "I can hardly wait." Then she left, and with her left my worries.

*end flashback*

Now that I think about it, she probably did know that I was awake. Anyway, I know that this has happened again since then. I continued on in thought until Manta interrupted, "Earth to Yoh! You still haven't answered my question!"

"Er.what was the question again?"

Manta sweatdropped. "How do you manage to live with Anna 24/7?"

I replied, "It's not really all that bad. There are some.perks. You know what I mean?" I grinned.

Manta didn't seem to get it. "She may be a strict trainer, but she's really a nice person when she's not acting like a drill sergeant." I laughed a little at this.

"Which is when?"

"Oh, come on, you don't really think she's like that 24 hours a day, do you?"

Manta thought about this, and a glint of recognition appeared on his face. I think he understood. "You guys really."

"No, she only does it when she thinks I'm asleep. It's nothing serious.but it still feels so good." Just then the school bell rang. "Oh, man, we're gonna be late for class!"

That afternoon, when I went home, Anna was still feeling sick in bed. I sat down and told her quietly, "I know," and winked. I think she understood. Then she ordered me to get her some chicken soup and get back to my training. Good old Anna.

CC: So, what do you think? Tell me! Well, until the next story, ¡Ja ne!
