First poem (actually, first anything that poor ol' Evy here has written and actually finished). Be nice. Hope you like it!
A New Day
Sailng off on the crystal blue ocean;
I look up into the sky,
and see that the black of night
has faded into a horizon of mixed color.
As the sun rises above the clear water,
I begin to feel a new day's warmth
chase away an old day's cold.
I close my eyes,
and take in a deep breathe of the morning's sea air.
As I slowly let it out,
I open my eyes and stare in wonder at the world around me.
I look down over the railing of my ship;
eyes now facing the transparent blue sea.
I can clearly make out a small pod of dolphins;
swimming and splashing happily together.
We both have something in common;
The dolphins and I.
We all share a love for the sea.
The dolphins love and give back tot he sea,
for it gives thema wy of survival.
My love if the sea is similar in a way.
For the ocean is the only love I have ever trully known.
The smell of the sea air,
and the feel of the water always seem
like they are keeping me alive somehow.
As I begin to look back toward the now morning sky,
a smile finds its way onto my features.
This is the beginning of a new day.
