Chapter 1
It was a dark and stormy night. Yusuke was walking home from school. His school uniform was drenched in rain, and his hair drooped over his eyes.
"Dammit!" exclaimed Yusuke, as he pushed the rogue strands back up. He kicked a crumpled Coke can down the sidewalk. Suddenly, as it skittered into an open manhole, someone - or something - let out an unearthly wail. He spun around to see what it was.
"What the hell?" Then came the sound of footsteps. Pat. Pat. Pat. They grew louder until they were almost upon him. All of a sudden, a shadowy figure burst from an alley and pounced on Yusuke, sending him flying into a wall. He looked up, and saw what had attacked him.
It looked like some kind of werewolf, with a canine head attached to a furry, yet human, body. It screamed again. At this close range, it almost pierced Yusuke's eardrums. It ran at him, claws up, ready to slash his throat.
Yusuke leapt to the side, barely dodging the deathblow. He charged the beast, throwing a wild left hook. It connected to the werewolf's jaw, sending it reeling back, wiping the blood from its lips. It jumped into the air in an attempt to crush Yusuke under its feet.
Yusuke put his hand up as if he was commanding it to stop. Then he yelled, "SHOTGUN!!!" A burst of spirit energy flew out of his fist and slammed into its target. The werewolf slammed into a wall, its head cracked.
"That had to hurt," came a familiar voice from behind Yusuke.
"BOTAN?!?"
"Bingo!"
"Jeez, give me a frickin' break," muttered Yusuke.
"Oh, stop it. I have a very important mission for you."
