Note: I don't own Star Wars, nor did I create any of these characters. This story takes place about a week before the Myrker Strike team leaves, in Star by Star. Yes, I know, both the chapters and the story itself are short, but they're supposed to be that way, so fear not!

"You're sure you want to do this?" Raynar Thul asked, his blue eyes clouded in concern. Lusa nodded, light glinting off of her crystal horns.

"I have to. I haven't been home sense before the war began." Her hooves rang hollowly against the duricreat floor of the hidden Jedi base, located deep within the Maw Cluster, as the centaurform girl took a step forward. Smiling gently, she took his hands. "I'll be all right, trust me."

"I do trust you. It's the Vong who I don't trust. Especially now that they've got those voynex-critters running around." The blond bangs falling across his eyes did nothing to hide the worry on his face. "I couldn't bare it if anything happened to you."

"Well then," Lusa replied, "suppose I promise to come back safely? You know I never break my word."

Raynar grinned. "I know. Deal then. It you're not back in a week, I'm coming after you."

"The knight in shining armor rushing to the rescue of his lady fair?" Lusa laughed. "I like it." She lowered her head slightly, as their lips met for a long moment. Pulling back, she added, "Although I believe the knight is supposed to be the one who has to bend down when kissing."

"You stopped to tell me that?" Raynar asked in mock annoyance. The couple laughed as he pulled Lusa to him for a final embrace. "Take care."

"I will." Lusa answered softly. Turning, she trotted up the lowered ramp of the Lightning Rod. Zekk, who had agreed to take her was already inside the cabin, starting the ship up. As she reached the top, Lusa turned back to Raynar. "May the Force be with you." She called back.

May it be with us all." He replied. "I love you."

"And I you, until my death and beyond." Then, with a flick of her crimson tail, she was gone.
