Remy grinned triumphantly as the smell wavered through the room. It smelled exactly as he remembered, back from his own party town.
His chere would love him forever for this one, he just knew it. It was Katie's birthday, his petite's special day, and he was going to be sure to make it the best she had ever experienced.
Hence the meal, an old Cajun meal that had been passed down in his adopted family for ages—one of the few things Remy could proudly claim was from his family.
"Remy?" She had come in the door just as he pulled the last bowl of the food from the oven, setting it on the counter quickly so he could greet her. She beat him to it, however, as she appeared in the doorway.
"Remy right here, chere," he stated huskily, stopping her at the door.
"Hey, Charmer," she stated with a smirk, "What's that smell?" she asked, crinkling her nose.
Remy's eyes widened in horror as thoughts of her hating his wonderful meal flashed through his mind.
"It smells great!" she shouted, looking past him and forcing her way around his body. He fought to keep her away from his meal, but ended up getting the two stuck in the doorway. Both continued to struggle, neither being released from within the frame.
"Remy…" she complained, looking up into his slightly frustrated, demon-like eyes.
"Remy knows, chere." He began, but stopped and smirked for a moment. "'Ey, at least we stuck in dis togeder, non?" he continued smirking as he spoke, lowering his voice to a whisper and lowering his head to almost even with hers.
"Yeah…" Katie nodded, grinned as well and letting out a small chuckle. She brought her hands to his jaw line and traced it, cupping his cheeks in her hands before drawing his lips towards her own.
"Mmph—" he gave in slight protest, but took back all objections by catching her own lips with his. He hooked one hand on her hip, pulling her closer to him, and one hand found her neck and wrapped gently around it.
This hand he ran up the side of her face, eliciting a shudder from her through their kiss, and entangled it in her hair. He gently tugged at the short hairs at the back of her hairline, forcing her face upwards and more towards his own. She responded by drawing her hands from his face and running one through his soft hair. The other she brought to meet his at her hips, in which she locked with callused fingers and a gloved palm.
"Chere… Katie…" Remy moaned, drawing his lips from hers and running them in a gentle line up and down her cheek. He quickly moved and found a crook in her neck that he busied himself with, nipping and sucking gently at that spot and grinning and Katie leaned back against the frame.
She, however, pleasant as it was for her, was grinning wildly, and looking around mischieviously. She spotted the food he had left on the counter and grinned again, a plan quickly formulating.
With a quick giggle and a sharp cry, Katie broke free of Remy's grasp on her and flew towards the food, hoping to catch a glimpse of what it could be. Remy, however was too quick for her.
"Chere, dat ain't fair!" he shouted as he, at first, stood bewildered in the spot. However, his need to protect his surprise overtook him and he followed her towards the food. As he approached it, he slammed his hand against the lid of the container, covering whatever was inside.
"Re-emy!" she cried in frustration as he smiled triumphantly at his own achievements. Sh began pouting as best as she could, but he waved a finger.
"Ah-ah," he stated, "No peekin' 'til—"
A sudden explosion made Remy gasp and jump back, staring in horror at the source of the explosion. There sat the container, completely destroyed, with all its contents scattered and burnt all over the counter. He let out a slight cry of disbelief while Katie stifled her laughter as best as she could.
"De… De… De food!" he cried, looking slightly near tears.
Katie grinned again and took a finger-full of a batch of—whatever it was—that didn't look burned. She placed the finger in her mouth, savoring the flavor a bit.
"Mmmm… It tasted great, Remy, thanks!"
He couldn't help but grin.
"Now, ya up for pizza?" His grin grew as she took his hand.
"Happy Bir'day, Chere…"
