A Petrified Heart
By: Silviestree8989
Summary: Ron's reaction to finding Hermione in Chamber of Secrets.
Rating: PG-13, I don't want to get in trouble and it is an emotional time for Ron.
Disclaimer: I don't own Ron or Hermione or any of the other characters in Harry Potter. They belong to the awesome JK Rowling and I just want to borrow them for a short time.
A/N: This is my first try at writing fanfic here. I hope you like this and please please please read and review. Thanks!!!
They found her by the library. A shiver worked its way down my spine, as I approached her still figure. She looked as if in deep thought, the first hints of a smile dancing across her lively face. But that smile belied the dark terror that flashed even now through her lifeless eyes.
Hesistantly, I reached out to grab her hand and recoiled suddenly at its inhuman touch. Cold as stone. Harry stood by, muttering something to McGonagall about spells and chambers. For that instant, I hated him. Could he not see his friend lying there, petrified by magical means? Could he not deign her a single moment of respectful silence, instead of nattering on about that damned chamber of secrets?
In spite of myself, I reached back to Hermione and rubbed my hands across hers, struggling to impart some of my warmth onto her cold hands. With a broken wand, I was less than useless, a sorcerer without anyway to ply his art. But even now, I felt like uttering the unforgivable words. Avada Kedavra. If only to end my suffering
I bowed my head in grieving silence, and then looked up. The light streamed from windows set high on the walls. Harry, done with the professor, came to my side and laid a quivering hand on her forehead. And then, he shook his head sadly and began to walk away.
But, I could not leave her, not now! Not yet...
I stood up shakily and nodded to Madame Pomfrey, "Take care of her."
Relishing the last touch of her dead fingertips, I forced myself to pull away.
"Hermione, I'll be back for you."
