The war is still raging around me,
Shouts and cries fill the air.
Hope has abandoned me,
All I feel is despair.

Have they learnt nothing?
Why will they not make peace?
Haven't they caused enough suffering?
Will the war ever end?

Perhaps they know nothing,
Perhaps they are too ignorant,
Perhaps they need to feel,
Before they start to realize.

A body falls beside me,
I stare into the unseeing eyes.
How many innocents are to be killed;
Before they realize?

My time is up,
My breathing is hitched,
I yearn for my family,
I wish to say goodbye.

I can feel nothing,
I can see nothing,
Slowly I slip into darkness...
