Petals Crushed
A/N: This is my first Final Fantasy 7 story posted on ff.net, but by far not the first one I have ever written. I have so many of them sitting around but I am too lazy to type them up. Most of them are about Aeris anyway, the best character from anything ever! This story is about my new fasination in the Final Fantasy World: Reno. This is set a couple years after the end of the game, and Reno is with Cloud. It will be a yaoi story, so I'm telling you this now. Many love triangles, pairings include Reno/Cloud, Cloud/Tifa, Reno/Yuffie, and probably a couple more down the road. Don't be surprised to find that this story is violent and erotic, that is just how I write. Enjoy!
Cloud was running.
The shadow was behind him, ever gaining and always taunting. He screamed in between gasps for breath, trying to gain more ground than he knew he could. Suddenly he stopped, and all was silence. The shadows disappeared, and the room became surrounded byt a white light that was slightly tinted green.
The green of the Lifestream.
He was staring straight ahead, not knowing where to turn, what to do. "Hello?" he called, fearful of the answer yet needing it anyway. What could he possibly find here?
A single footstep could be heard behind him. He went rigid, not wanting to turn around. Curiosity burned within his heart but he would not let himself do it.
"Cloud..." it was a man's voice, a very familiar one at that.
Slowly he turned to face the man standing before him. Slightly taller than Cloud, and long silvery hair made it all clear. The shadow, the inescapeability of it all. The mouth curled into a cruel smile. "Cloud," he said, stepping forward, making him back away. "Cloud, my boy, what did you expect? I will always be with you, always be a apart of you." He paused, tilted his head up, as if in a mockery of prayer. "I'll be a part of you as much as she ever was, maybe perhaps, more so."
As he said that she appeared. Aeris, in all her beauty, kneeling in front of Sephiroth, facing Cloud. Her hands up in prayer, her head bent. "NO!" Cloud screamed, rushing forward.
It seemed as though he could not move. No matter how far he stretched his legs or how fast he pumped them, he could not move closer.
The blade came out of nowhere. Sephiroth raised it high and the world went silent as it began it's downfall. Cloud somehow tripped on something that was not there, and fell as did the sword. He reached one hand out as far as he could, but it did not close the gap between them. Nothing could.
***************
Sunlight came through the window, and Reno awoke to Cloud screaming. He quickly put one hand on his chest and the other went to stroking his hair. These nightmares happened so frequently. Why was he still plagued by these thoughts? What part inside of him would not let go?
Cloud was definately the quiet type, had been since her death. After AVALANCHE had saved the world he had drifted away from the others, from all the fame that had been showered upon them, and settled in Kalm. Why it had been that city Reno would never know, but all the same...
His eyes flittered open as he looked about. "Oh Gods..." he said, moving to get up.
"It's okay, it is all okay now..." Reno said, pushing him back down on the bed and kissing him gently.
Cloud looked up into his eyes and a sad smile came about his face. "Reno," he said, "why are you here with me? There has to be a reason."
"There is," he assured him. "I love you."
