Dedicated To Sirius Black

The house was empty, silent. Nothing moved; the scene was frozen in time. Suddenly, there was a flash of colour; Phineas Nigellus settled himself in an empty frame, and sighed.

This place is not simply deserted, he thought bitterly. It is dead. There is an air of death here.

Dust had formed a blanket over the stuffed house-elf heads on the wall, and the faded carpet was a stormy grey. All the life had been sucked out of the building, the Black's family home, with the death of the last remaining Black. Phineas cast his gaze skywards; and in the faint light, two small tears rolled down the silken fabric of the canvas.

"God," Phineas whispered, "I am not much of a praying man. Never have been. But I ask this of you now.

       My great great grandson is dead. I know I am one of many whom mourn; yet I also know that fate bound him to die, protecting the ones he loved. But now there are gaping wounds in the souls of his friends; please, God, clean the wound, prepare it so that it may heal.

       He was a good man, a trusted friend to many. Do not let the Devil claim his soul; instead, please guide his spirit to the gates of Heaven, and make his afterlife a good one.

       Amen,"

Phineas gulped, and rushed out of the frame to find another, more secretive one to mourn in. But, on the canvas he left behind, there were two  silvery trickles sparkling in what little light there was, just below where his eyes would have been.

PG – I still firmly believe JK Rowling's made a big mistake, killing off Sirius.
