It was a snowy December day in Glenoak, California. The Camden children
were ready for school and their father, Rev. Eric, was getting ready to
drive them to school, while their mother, Annie made breakfast. All was
going well, and nothing seemed abnormal (except for the little bit of
snow). That is until Matt, the eldest child who was eighteen, stepped
outside. He came back in right away with a look of shock in his face.
"Umm, Mom, Dad, there's snow outside."
"Yeah." Annie said.
"Like a foot." Matt replied
"Yeah." Eric said puzzled.
"In California????"
"Right. Get in the car." Eric said.
"Okay."
Matt opened the door and his parents saw why he was puzzeled.
"Wow, he wasn't kidding!" Eric said.
"That's a lot for California!" Annie added.
Lucy, fourteen came down the stairs. She was smiling a perplexed smile.
"There's like eight feet of snow out there."
"One foot. Don't you know your measurements?"
"Math isn't my strong suit, Matt!"
Simon, who was twelve, came into the kitchen, followed by Ruthie, who was six, and Mary, who was fifteen. They all looked shocked and pleased.
"Maybe they'll close school!" Simon said.
"I doubt it!" Mary shot back.
"It's California, two inches of snow and school's closed!" Simon replied sarcastically.
Annie turned on the radio. They happened to be mentioning school closings.
"Roan High, Glenoak Private School, Kennedy High."
"YES!" Mary and Matt screamed.
"Roosevelt School."
"YES!" Simon and Ruthie cried.
"Walter Reed Jr. High, however, will be the only school to remain open."
"NO!" screamed Lucy.
"Well, Luce, I'll take you to school." Eric said.
"Fine." She mumbled, as they headed out to the car. Five minutes later they came back in.
"Dad forgot to put gas in the car."
"Well, at least you'll be at home with us." Annie said.
NOTE: I know the probability of a foot of snow in California is like 0, but I had to do something. Just go with it for now!!!!!!!!! Thanks.
