Extended Response Essay

I strongly disagree with the L'Anse Creuse School District in saying that we need to wear school uniforms. Especially since, they are only making the Elementary and middle school students wear them. The core democratic value that supports my position on this issue is diversity To me, this value means that not every one is the same and we all have different personalities and looks, so why would we all want to look the same? Diversity is variety; variety and differences in culture makes us think differently. Ethnic backgrounds make us look differently. Race lets you explore how your body looks when you come from different regions of the world. Lifestyle lets you practice certain traditions and lets you talk about why you have traditions in your lifestyle. Belief is desirable and beneficial, and is the make up of American culture. By having people wear the same outfit everyday, people are being locked in boxes, they lose their creativity to explore new ideas that could be beneficial for the future scientists, or for the future leaders when it comes to new issues, or just for everybody. For example, Bill Gates made it easier to use computers, and the Internet, by thinking creatively, and not letting people tell him that could not be done. In the public opinion survey, teachers said that wearing school uniforms made no difference in whether the kids were safer or not. It also shows on the, "Franklin School District Annual Reports" that with the school uniforms that the kids fight more when they were wearing the uniforms then when they were in normal.
During the last 6yrs of schooling, I have met many people. The
constition states that we all have the freedom to express ourselves
and if that means that dressing differently allows us to do so, why
are we going them to allow them to change the dress code? We dress
according to whom we are and it shows individualism. So keeping the
kids in uniforms would help and prove nothing.
