the characters.
Dear Friend,
I'm leaving you now but I can't say it to your face. I'm not sure why but I can't stand this place. The memories are too much to bear and I know that you'll be much better off without me here. It's not your fault so don't take all the blame. I tried to change but instead I just came out the same. Darkness is coming and there's not much time left. I'll remember you always and all the secrets you kept. Thank you for giving me another life and for being a father to me. You've taught me so much, probably all I'll ever need. I can't say that I'll miss you because that would be a lie. Soon I'll forget the good because the human in me will die. Good-bye my friend, I'm sorry that I let you down. But if I don't leave you, everything dear to us will drown.
Obi-wan Kenobi stared at the letter horrified. He then read it over and tried to make sense of it. How could he leave him like this? After all they fought for, this was the end? It couldn't be. Obi-wan slipped on his cloak and immediately went to the Senate building. He kept thinking that it was a mistake. He couldn't leave. Obi-wan knew he was impulsive but he couldn't just disappear forever! Could he? Was Obi-wan that blind? Had he missed the signs? Could he have done anything to help?
Before he knew it he was in front of Amidala's office. He knocked softly on the door and it creaked open by itself. There he saw the senator slumped on the floor by the large window.
"Milady?" Obi-wan said. Not sure if he should be in there.
Amidala turned her head to face him. Her eyes were red and tears were streaking down her face. In her hand she clutched a wrinkled piece of paper.
"You got one too?" he asked.
This made her only sob harder until she was gasping for air. Obi-wan moved closer to her and put his arm around her. He had never seen her like this.
"It will be okay," he said flatly. He knew this wouldn't comfort her. It never did.
Obi-wan was allowed to read her letter. It was short and not that sentimental. After he was finished he wasn't sure what to say. She looked up at him when her tears were under control.
"I'm pregnant."
