'Just a Girl'
We're studying poetry in my English Lit. class. what can I say, I was
inspired.
*hugs*
KID: H-how'd you do that?
BUFFY: It's what I do.
KID: But you're ... you're just a girl.
BUFFY: That's what *I* keep saying.

So young, so innocent, so naïve,
'Just a girl' they say
Had to grow up, far too fast
Her life was taken away.

He came along dark and handsome,
Her guardian of the night,
Together they work, he helps her deal,
Fighting for what is right.

He stands by her side, to love and protect,
But what he cannot see,
Is that their relationship is doomed from the start,
A twisted destiny.

Neither knows the future,
Neither really cares,
Right now it doesn't matter,
Because she is his, and he is hers.

A long and tiring battle,
Spike's idea of surprise,
Everything was right again,
When she looked into his soulful eyes.

All alone that stormy night,
Just seventeen years of age,
Together alone in his quarters,
They turned that critical page.

All was made better when he came,
With a promise to love and hold,
Then that night one perfect moment,
Part of him turned cold.

She was young and naïve, most of all willing,
He was wild and exciting,
Old, wise, and thrilling.
Mouth to mouth,
Skin to skin,
Something burned deep within.
A slayer of light,
A heart with a hole,
A vampire of darkness,
A man with no soul.

Took her innocence and left her there,
He did not think to look back,
Her friends and family, and most of all,
Her heart was under attack.

Part of her was full of anger,
The other part just cried,
She felt the hurt that fateful morning,
When part of her died.

She held her weapon high with confidence,
But a tear trickled down her face,
But still her movements were strong and smooth,
Precise and full of grace.

Now incomplete, left alone,
Everything taken away,
She's the slayer, she has power,
But 'she's just a girl' they say.
