Bed Bugs
Goodnight, sleep tight..
All his life, he'd been infested. He never understood why the company of bugs could warm his heart more than anything else, but it did, and that was that. He was born with them, he would die with them. Everyone could think it was creepy, they could avoid him, but as long as he had them, it was okay.
No one really understood him. Even his team-mates would cringe and step away every now and then. Why did everyone think it was nasty? It was just as nasty as Akamaru pooping on everything, or Hinata's ridiculous obsession with Naruto. To him, even Kurenai's outfit was more inappropriate than his friends.
No one could understand because they'd always had friends. They'd always had people to be with, while he had stayed, locked himself away, to be with his bugs. The ones who would protect him, the ones who would help him, who were always there. No one understood why he was thankful for his bugs.
And no one ever would.
Everyone else, when they were children, were afraid of pulling back the covers and seeing bugs crawling everywhere on their mattresses. To him, it was a dream come true, a welcome sight. After all, it had been that way every night. And it would be that way forever. They kept him company, even in his sleep time.
These are what you call true friends, he'd always think to himself. They'll never leave me, so I'll never leave them. If they protect me in battle, I will let no one step on them. They could make fun of him if they wanted, but Aburame Shino, even in his time of deepest loneliness, would never be alone.
