Ink and Understanding

Luna likes printing The Quibbler out the Muggle way.

Daddy doesn't understand it, but that's alright because Daddy doesn't understand a lot of things. He never understood why Mum loved her experiments and explosions and he doesn't understand why Luna likes Harry.

Because Luna *does* like Harry and Daddy thinks he's a nice enough boy but is a bit of a moving target. He says he's already lost Mum and that he can't lose Luna, but Luna believes that he never really lost Mum in the first place.

Lost implies that something has to be *found* and Luna knows where Mum is and she knows that it's only a matter of time before they join her. And that's what Luna tells Harry and what she tells Daddy and Harry says that it's a really morbid thing to say and Daddy says he understands.

And when Luna works at the printer and lets herself drown in words and paper she thinks of Mum and the Veil and the war but mostly Harry. She thinks about how tired he is and how worried he is and how he *needs* her.

He needs her in ways that don't have words, he needs her because she's there and she's tangible and she's not a statistic printed in the Daily Prophet after a Death Eater raid.

So she ignores it when Daddy tries to set her up with the son of the man who breeds Crumple Horned Snorkacks and she goes home and holds Harry in her pale and ink stained hands.
