Mirror Mirror on the wall,

What is it that they cannot see?

Humanity,

In all it's vanity,

Doesn't realize the damage done.

A valiant soul,

Always answering the call,

Whatever it may be.

An aching heart,

Hurting with past pain,

Even as fresh scars are laid.

One step over the edge,

One step past any aid,

One step, and no longer sane.

A mirror lies shattered on the grouned,

On the immaculate bathroom floor,

Shards of a broken reflection,

Settle into pools of crimson.

In the immeasurable distance,

A desperate siren wails,

The great hero hath fallen.

Sorrow....

Regret....

All the feelings blended, never ending, with no beginning.

A lone man stood among the dunes. Heavens above the sole witness to an act of weakness. He longs, and grieves. Longs for a time, a place, and a person, never to be seen again. Grieves for a life without meaning. It seemed like yesterday, if he just closed his eyes, that familar face, with the same old smile, the exact blueberry armor, with the remembered word of kindness and encouragement before another day began.

A name unforgotten by time and strife, love and loss. But never would he be there again, no more friendly conversations after the day's deed was done, nor laughter at breakfast. It was funny..., how unconciously one became, attached to another, without ever realizing.... until very late, far to late. The treasured companion was gone, yet still he remained, a ghost to haunt the world of the living.

It was a mistake, all of it up to this point in time. No longer had he the drive to go on, to take upon the task left on his shoulders. A mind drowned in remorse, teetering on the edge of insanity. There was nothing left here for him, but a promise had been made, a promise he would keep to the end of his days.

A broken man, he weeped amongst the sands.
