Kagome Summers: Chapter 1
For the first time in her memory, Kagome Summers tasted the air of the Light World. She wrinkled her nose unattractively, smelling for the first time pollution. The Dark World may have been a nasty place to live, however, it was environmentally stable at least.
"I hate this place…" Kagome growled as she stepped onto the sidewalk of New York City, which was full of people. Humans. A few mutants here and there, but they were trying to blend in. Kagome didn't care about them. They weren't valuable enough. She had bigger prey.
As Kagome strolled down the street with a purpose, she couldn't fight her curiosity to see what people were thinking about her. Were they as scared as they should be? As they always were in the Dark World, when confronting the heir to Ominous's kingdom, and Kybard's pet experiment, the Light Worlder, Kagome Amberlyn Summers.
She was surprised, or perhaps mildly amused, when she discovered that they were not thinking such things, and were in fact looking at her with mild pity. To their eyes, she was a poor blind girl who was wandering around by herself. Had they looked closer, they would have discovered that the girl they thought blind was not as helpless as they thought. In fact, she was much more powerful than that. Much more powerful…
