Just once, Matt wanted to make the right decision at the right time. He wasn't going to miss opportunities by waiting or being afraid anymore. One day, Matt was going to get the timing right. Today is not that day. Part two of "Sad, Beautiful, Tragic."

There's a distance between him and Harriet, completely justified, it always is. And it's always breached by one of them. But this time, Matt can't bridge the chasm between them. It makes him ache and its completely self-inflicted. Part one of "Sad, Beautiful, Tragic."

There was nothing left to say but she wanted to keep bantering with him, testing that intolerable quick-wit and distract him from his stress. So Harriet turned to her trusty words. "I loathe you." Matt didn't grin and hum through his teeth like he normally did when she told him those three words and Harriet's smile fell.

"So, Edward," They'd just locked the door behind them and slowly made their way to the bedroom. "Now that you have me here, what are you going to do with me?" Matt and Harriet return to each other, better, and stronger, than ever. It's a lot like their first time, but it's their last, first time. Harriet is certain of it.

This is very different from what Harriet had been expecting, juvenile. But she doesn't want to alienate herself so early in the game either. Good thing there's a friendly face to make this night a little more bareable. And then he leaves.

The first day back after that rollercoaster of a Friday night, Suzanne has a good feeling.

Harriet can see Matt is stressing out even though it's only early in the week. So she breaks into her Holly Hunter impression, a character she learnt is a comfort to him a long time ago. Cal can see what's really going on.

Cal notices a distance change in everybody. He's not sure if it's all such a good thing. But, at least no one is looking for more of an explanation about Thursday night's debacle with the Animal Kingdom Axis of Evil.

Harriet knows the photoshoot is a bad idea, Tom and Simon have hit her over the head with reasons why. But not in terms that make any relevant sense to her. One voice, a little salacious, a little bit silly, gets the message across. A companion piece to "Being Threatened And Being Saved."

The Bible says lying is a sin. Every book of the Bible says lying is a sin. If Matt knows anything, he knows Harriet will not lie, it's a big word for her. He has to talk to her before Mary accuses her of it. A Breaking News drabble.

Matt needs a racquetball partner for his lunch break and no one is available. Jordan doesn't know how to play but suggests they try to learn a different game and get to know each other a little better.

There was no humour or hyperbole in Matt's voice as he told her about Suzanne's big brown eyes imploring him to stop. Desperately, Harriet wanted to let him know that it was okay. That they'd deal with this, and that he'd not be alone in the clean-up. Harriet was not going to lose Matt. Never again. She needed him to know that. That this was it. The two of them. Forever.

"Matt's been writing a proposal for you?" Harriet leant her elbows onto her knees to gauge the expression on Danny's face. She wanted to get his mind off the fact that his daughter - Jordan's baby - had been born and she was genuinely curious about the conversation the pair of them had just had with Matthew.

All Matt wants is snow and Harriet, dammit. Episode 11 companion. Half an hour ago, Matt would've considered this week a success. Not only was it Christmas in a weeks time, he and Cal had been creating the images of a 'Dickensian' winter with all the trimmings of a Gatsby party. Christmas songs were playing on a loop. Plus, he and Harriet had been in far better standing as of late.

Darren is the anti-Matt and Harriet realises just what that means.

No one can find Danny. They've lost Jordan, there's mould on the stage and Matt hasn't made an appearance yet. Harriet wanted to apologise. To yell at him more. To hold him, to slap him. Harriet knows, deep down, that sometimes before it gets better, the darkness gets bigger. But right now, she's surrounded by a cold, dark, guilt and she can't see a way out.

Matt and Harriet's journey from "I was holding your hand every step of the way" to "you got cold and you got mean" all the way up to "I'm looking forward to working with you" and all the bits inbetween.
