Disclaimer: I don't own any of this. In case you were wondering it belongs
to JK Rowling. I'm just borrowing it.
A/N: This is not a Draco/Hermoine love story. It's just a one-shot.
Summary: Hermione talks to an unexpected person about Sirius after his death.
Hermione was sitting by the lake; silently tears fell out of her eyes. All she could think about was him and why he went the way he did. She thought he was too young, and how he had responsibility to Harry. She sat there crying not aware of anything around her.
Before she knew it, it was dark. The stars were shining in the sky and she could see every constellation in the sky. Immediately she picked out her favorite, Sirius, the Dog Star. Then a new wave of tears erupted from her eyes. She decided it was rather late and she should go inside. She got up and turned around and was face-to-face with him.
"What are you doing here Malfoy," she said to him, mad that he had probably seen her crying and would face about a week of tormenting from that.
"A person can be any where he wants Granger," he said to her rudely.
"Well leave me alone, I'm going inside," she said as she walked past him. When she was about 15 feet away from him, she turned around to face him again. "Did you see my crying?" she asked.
"So what if I did," he said. "Why do you care?"
"Never mind," she said and turned around to go back to the school.
When she was almost at the step, she heard her name called out in the still darkness.
"Granger!"
She turned around. "What?" she asked him.
"Why were you crying?" he asked her.
"Why do you care?" she told him, in the same voice he used with her when he said that.
"Because, I want to know," he said, and he sounded sincere.
She walked back to him and sat down. He followed her.
She pulled her knees to her chin and looked down. "I'm crying because I miss Sirius."
"Oh, Sirius Black. He died," he said.
She looked him in the eyes. "How do you know that?"
"Well he is my first cousin once removed you know."
"Oh."
They sat there awhile until Draco said, "Will you tell me about him?"
"Why it's not like you ever cared about him before," she told him.
"Well, I really don't know my family that well.and I want to know. He still is family even if I don't like him," he told her.
Hermione looked back at the ground and began. "Sirius was.was.he was a mystery. Like, you wouldn't know what to feel when you were around him. You wouldn't know whether to be scared, or nervous, or safe. Eventually, you felt safe, 'cause you knew when he was around, everything was going to be all right."
She continued. "I still remember the time we saved him. Me and Harry flew Buckbeak up to his room. We got off, he got on, and then he flew away. We didn't get to see him until the first task in fourth year."
"Sirius was an animagus. He could turn into a big, black dog. I remember in our third year, Harry had seen him. Professor Trelawney said it was the grim. Harry spent most of his fear whenever he saw it, which was often. Now that you think about it, Harry had really seen his godfather looking out for him."
"I really miss him, and I'm going to miss him. I'll get over it but I'll never forget."
All the while, Draco was listening intently. When she got done he said, "Wow, I never knew any of that. You learn something new everyday. Thanks Granger." He stood up and walked back toward the castle.
Hermione watched him go. When he was inside she whispered, "Your welcome Malfoy." Then she got up and followed his footsteps.
A/N-so what do you think? Remember, this was only a one shot. I would like some reviews, good or bad. Thanks!!
