Note: I own nothing. This story was inspired by Disney's "Lizzie McGuire" and a

Maroon 5 song.

It was raining, which was absolutely fantastic. Precisely what he needed as he

waited for the girl of his dreams. Well, not exactly his dreams, she was the girl of his

reality more than anything. She had been his world since the day before he realized that

he could even have such feelings. So, he needn't have dreams because she was his past,

his present and his future. Even if she didn't see it yet.

His brown curls pasted to his head and leaking rainwater down his spine, David

Gordon could only find anger enough to elevate his temper to a mild frustration. "Where

are you, McGuire?" he muttered despondently.

"Hello, Gordo!" a sweet voice giggled at Gordo's shoulder. Jumping, he spun to

face the cause of his sudden fear. He knew that it was her before he began the instinctual

twirl but he was surprised nonetheless.

His eyes darted dizzily for a moment before he could really see her. Even then, a

glimpse of blonde hair was all that he received before he found her eyes. Elizabeth

McGuire's hazel-green eyes were captivating. They are her soul and mine, he thought

poetically. Her eyes are reassurance that I have a place in her heart.

As a friend, the nagging bit of his mind reminded. They show that she remembers

what you have always been to her.

With a dejected sigh, Gordo put on a smile and greeted his loving friend. "I was

worried that you wouldn't show up, McGuire." Finally pulling his gaze from her eyes, he

viewed the state of her. She was soaking herself in the rain, without a coat or an umbrella.

Removing his coat, he offered it to her with a concerned smile. "Did you miss the torrent,

Lizzie?" he joked.

In response, Lizzie turned her gaze to the ground and twirled her finger in one of

her blonde locks. "Actually, Gordo, I wanted to talk to you. I, uh, can't go to the movie.

Ethan came over and he wants to take me out tonight. So, I sort of said yes and I was

wondering if that was alright with you."

Admirably, Gordo kept his disappointment and rejection fueled depression in

check. Still smiling and with his voice breaking only minimally, Gordo nodded, "Oh,

sure. Go ahead, he's your boyfriend and all, but do me a favor? Take the coat for the

walk back? I don't want you to get soaked on my account."

Cracking a wide smile, Lizzie leapt out and hugged Gordo. "Thank you! Thank

you! Thank you! I knew that you would understand. I promise I'll make it up to you

sometime."

"I know you will, McGuire. Now, get inside, you'll catch a cold."

Lizzie grabbed the coat with a thankful smile and started walking back to her

house. "It's great to see that chivalry isn't dead," she chuckled.

Watching her scurry home, Gordo heaved a disappointed sigh. Yet, he found that

he couldn't get angry. He didn't really mind waiting in the pouring rain at her corner so

long as he got to speak with her.

As his unknowing love went off to her date, a lonely David Gordon turned and

headed away from her corner.

*** -Alright, that's all that I've got. I'm updating it soon, I promise. I've been a bit busy with

school lately but chapter two will be up within two days. I just had to fix the structure.
