Prologue
Nathan slammed his door shut, not believing it all. Haley had not just gotten mad at him, he had not just screwed up the best thing that had ever happened to him, yet he realized he had, and there was no way to fix it this time.
He picked up the phone and stared at it for a minute, contemplating trying to call her, but he knew she wouldn't pick up, but it was worth a try.
Dialing the number he had memorized from the first time she had given it to him, he listened to it ring and ring and ring.
'This is Haley! Sorry I'm not here to take your call right now, but if you leave me your name and number I promise to get back to you as soon as possible. Bye!'
"Haley, it's Nathan," he sighed, "I really need to talk to you, so please if you're there, pick up the phone, and if you're not, well just call me back. Please!"
Then he slammed the phone down and lost himself in the ominous tones of whatever song was blaring through his speakers.

Haley lay on her bed, the tears pouring down her cheeks as she listened to his voice, the voice that stirred her soul, pleaded with her to pick up the phone, but she wouldn't.
She would make him suffer for what he did to her, for the way he was making her suffer now, and she would not give in to him, not ever.
There was a pounding on the window, the sound of the rocks she knew Nathan was throwing at it making enough noise to wake up everyone in the house, but she wouldn't walk over there, she wouldn't do anything.

Nathan drove away from Haley's defeated, no matter what he had tried to do to get her to talk to him, it hadn't worked, and he knew he needed help reaching her, help from only one person, the one person that understood Haley the best, and the one person he least wished to contact.
Lucas.
Pulling out his cell phone, he dialed the number of the one person he despised, but needed to help him.

Lucas looked down at his phone and smiled apologetically at Peyton.
"Hello?" he asked, annoyed.
"Lucas, it's Nathan."
"What do you want?" Lucas demanded.
"I need your help."
