Tragedy strikes the Belcher's when the children are hit by a hit and run driver. Tina and Gene walk away with minor injuries but Louise. Louise took the brunt of the hit to protect her siblings. Her injuries are non survivable. Adding insult to injury Bob is grieving his mom extra hard and ends up saying some horrible things to his daughter. Just before the accident.

Between health crises and day to day life. The family endures a lot. Until Louise's pregnancy. Causes Ruby to revisit a long forgotten question? Why did her own mother leave her?
