Um…
I don't know what came over me.
I guess I wanted to show that Christian really did help her fly away…

"Finally Flying"

His eyes are perfect.
They are sea of calm water after a storm. Grays and blues and greens mingle and melt into the sweet, tender eyes he has only for her.
She gazes into them, but never sees herself. She does not want to. She knows she will only be disappointed when she sees herself staring back, in all her bittersweet simplicity. But she does not mind. She knows that is all he could possibly see in her.
Simplicity.
The mirror in his eyes only speaks the truth. She has lived a life of lies.
She reaches for him blindly, knowing only him as the world fades to a never-ending moonlit midnight. She trips among the stars, holding his hand, blissfully naïve and unaware. Reality slips through their entwined fingers like sand, caressing their fingertips before falling into sweet oblivion.
Twirling and gliding about the clouds, their dance falls in time to the beating of their hearts. He motions to her with one gentle poet's hand to come closer. Her eyes sparkle with silent delight and laughter as his kisses spill on her silken cheek like a lazy summer rain, soft and warm.
He weaves song in her hair and stars in her eyes.
Her eyes are blue. Purely, devastatingly blue.
He kisses them both before lowering his lips to hers.
The nothingness that surrounds them spins in dizzying circles, embracing them. But they are oblivious, drunk on one another. It is only them, their love, and that desperately sweet kiss.
And when their lips part, her lashes flutter with the grace of butterfly's breath. He stares at her avidly, lovingly, meaningfully. She is close to tears.
"What do you see, Christian?"
"I see you, Satine."
She draws in a slow, sharp breath.
She dares to look into the innocent depths of his beautiful eyes, to look into the mirror, knowing she will see the same reflection she always has. Hoping she won't. Pretending to not understand why fear grips her heart.
But the girl in his eyes is different.
The girl in his eyes has wings.
