I do not own anything related to Harry Potter.

A young girl with fiery red hair and doe-like brown eyes sat on a sill in the Astronomy Tower. She leaned back against the cool stone, closing her eyes, listening to the air swish past her, fluttering her hair becomingly. She breathed evenly, allowing the cool night air to caress her tiny figure as the moonlight washed over her.
Neville Longbottom twisted in his bed, unable to fall into slumber. He threw the covers from him and got up, dressing silently, so as not to wake his roommates. He tucked his wand carefully into his pocket, and carefully snuck out of Gryffindor tower, heading to the one place he felt he could really think and be at peace, the Astronomy Tower.
He made his way there, head down. Once he reached the top of the steps, his feet making no sound, he saw a shadow on the floor of what should have been bathed in soft moonlight. His eyes followed the shadow up to the figure making it. He caught his breath as he realized it was the girl he had fallen deeply for in his 4th year, when he had taken her to the Yule Ball.
The girl stirred gently, a deep sigh escaping her soft lips. Neville took a silent step forward. He had never known anyone to come up here besides him, least of all her. He chanced to speak, taking a few more steps towards her. "Ginny..." His voice floated gently to her and she gave a start, opening her big brown eyes and looking at him.
"Neville..." One pale, slim hand reached up to tuck a lock behind her ear. That simple move had him captivated, drawn to follow her hand's progress until it reached her lap once more, and he looked up to meet her eyes. She looked confused, and slightly embarrassed. "What are you doing up here?" She asked, sliding from the sill and smoothing her uniform.
Neville smiled ever so slightly at her. "I could ask you the same question." He shook his head and went on. "I come up here when I can't sleep, when I need to think." Ginny nodded as if she knew exactly what he meant. "We should get back to the dorms." She said and made to walk by him.
Neville couldn't bear to pass up this chance. He reached out and took her hand in his, caressing the soft skin for a moment, waiting for her to look up at him. She did, her eyes meeting his in a glance that was almost wistful. "Ginny..." He whispered as she turned to face him, their hands entwined. His other hand rose to lightly graze her cheek, and he felt her shiver lightly under his touch.
Ginny didn't know what to think, only that she wanted him to kiss her. Her free hand moved up to cover his, pressing his hand against her cheek. "Neville..." She said quietly as he inclined her head, bringing his face down to touch his lips to hers. Neither pulled back for a few moments.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have..." Ginny cut of his words with her fingers on his lips, shaking her head softly. She took his hands in both of hers and stood on tiptoe to kiss him sweetly. "Don't be sorry..." She whispered to him.
Neville smiled gently at her and led her to the windowsill, the soft moonlight bathing both of them. He sat, holding her on his lap, his arms wrapped around her waist, her arms over his as she leaned back, feeling secure in his hold. She smiled softly and looked out at the stars, finally falling asleep nestled against him.
Neville felt and heard her breathing regulate. He smiled softly and kissed her hair. "Goodnight, my love."
