This is a missing scene / Au fic that really didn't happen at all! But for
me and all the other Sidekicks out there we can pretend it did.
Everything you recognize belongs to J.K. R. I don't even want to own Harry Potter, and you don't want me to either.
He's a Keeper by Kristin
Hermione found it difficult to fall asleep because of the party still going on downstairs thanks largely in part to the twins. "Wealey is our king" still ringing in the halls and bombs going off made it impossible for her to do anything but sit and wish she hadn't missed his big moment. All because of the twerp Hagrid she missed Ron's moment of heroism and she hated herself for it. He was so pleased with himself, the whole of Griffyndor was elated and she had to fake it. Well, not entirely she really was pleased for him but wished it was from first hand experience.
Another bomb went off and Hermione sighed, she would never get to sleep tonight. Just then her door opened, she expected one of her room mates but instead, in walked Ginny. She was covered in streamers and glitter and her face was flushed.
"Why are you up here hiding?" Ginny asked
"Well, it got a little crowded down there and I wanted to be by myself."
Ginny smiled and jumped on Hermione's bed sprinkling it with glitter, "Well I know at least one red head down stairs that wishes you would rejoin the group." she said wiggling her eyebrows.
"I am not going back down there tonight," she said smiling, obviously pleased, "no matter what George wants!" she ended laughing.
This comment caused Ginny to almost roll off the bed laughing. When she finally regained her composer she said, " RON, was looking around after you left looking just a bit like someone just took away his new broom. Are you really going to leave him down there like that? When all he wants is to have YOU be proud of him."
"I am proud of him," she replied looking out the window, "I'm really glad for him, you know he needed this. He is always second best in his eyes. He needed some positive attention."
"Well, why don't you go down and give it to him?" Ginny said smiling, and then adds in a dramtic voice, " I can see it know, You walk across the room, the crowd splits and he sees you. He stands and the two of you cross to one another, you say 'Oh Ron. You were amazing out there today. You really are my king.' and then he takes you in his arms up to his dorm to snog you silly as the whole of Griffyndor claps and cheers you on!" She ended in a fit of laughter.
Hermione who couldn't stop laughing either threw apillow at her. "I do not talk like that!" she whined. "And besides, Ron wouldn 't do it like that." Ginny raised an eyebrow in question. "He is more gentle than that, but still passionate. He is kind and thoughtful, and brave. (AN: not in OotP he's not! Sorry) He's sweet, funny, humble, cocky, infuriating, lovable, soft, friendly, cute, obnoxious, smarter than he realizes, modest, powerful..." and suddenly her face changed, her nose scrunched up and she giggled to herself.
"What?!" Ginny asked after a minute passed.
Hermione looked up at Ginny and quietly replied, "He's a keeper." She stood and walked out the door. Ginny smiled and watched as Hermione headed down stairs to rejoin the party and her "keeper."
