Is this desire

Cypher never knows when to stop, doesn't know where she wants to stop, and Trinity doesn't know how to say no, how to stop something she wants so badly, at least not yet. He's older than her and she's younger than him and they're both straddling a line carried over from the Matrix, so they're just as wrong here. There's no fucking escape.
He wants her and she wants to be alive, to feel something real in this 'real' world and maybe he can give it to her. It doesn't really matter to her who he is, as long as he's in the right place at the right moment and makes her heart jump and her pulse pound.
But he cares, he knows exactly who she is, knows exactly what he's getting because Cypher's watched Trinity. In the Matrix, how she eats, her grace and presence in both worlds. He knows all of it. Half the time he doesn't even know what he's doing. He always knows what he wants though – Trinity. She's the light to him, the sanity on this goddamned ship, she's everything good to him.
But Trinity doesn't care that much, she just needs to feel. She likes to know she's not completely numb, and if she can get that from this man, even if she was his friend, then so be it. Hopefully she won't break his heart but if someone's gonna hurt, its not gonna be her. Trinity's no damsel in distress.
But now that Cypher has her, has Trinity, now that she's found someone to help her, he doesn't know what to do. He doesn't have to convince her to stay, she'll choose that. He doesn't know where to start, whose territory was where or how to stop, how to not always want her in his arms. But Trinity doesn'y care if he's invading or she's conquering, doesn't care if she has to lay there after, as long as she feels something.
So somedays when Trinity's feeling alive and Cypher's feeling loved, it's almost enough.
But the Oracle will realize that almost enough isn't enough, that nothing comes true from two people using each other for what they think they want – love and pleasure. It has to come from something better than that, something purer. So one fateful day, Morpheus will come and see her again and she'll give him the nes. Not particualrly good or bad news, to her, just news. Cypher isn't the man you want. And before he leaves, Morpheus will cross out Cypher's name, alongside five others, and everything will begin again.
