Chapter 2
Slipping quietly from the wooden house and stepping gingerly over the newly-fallen leaves in the backyard, Ron made his way over to the small river that ran there, powered by a magic that the previous owner of the property had left behind. Looking around a bit, he decided nobody was watching him and lay down on the grass beside the bank's edge and listened to the water rushing close to his ear. It filled him with an undescribable pleasure, and a certain happiness that he could feel yet not detect where it came from.
As the time passed and the feeling left him, he started to grow weary, and pretty soon he was sleeping lightly with the river still rushing in his ear. He was dreaming, and he knew it subconsciously. He was dreaming of Hermione. Her long, brunette hair, swirling the outline of her face, so soft and puffy... with her amber eyes and loveable nose.
Suddenly Ron felt a strange foreboding caress on his face, and his eyes fluttered open. Hermione was kneeling beside him in her pajamas, lightly moving her finger over his cheek. When she saw that he had awoken, she sat down beside him, giggling softly. Yawning and rubbing his back from where he had lain on a small stone, Ron rose up a bit and seated himself next to her, still blinking slightly the sleep juices from his eyes.
"How are you doing Ron?"
"Good enough, 'Mione. You?"
"Yeah." And with that, she lay down beside him and placed her head in his lap.
+ We spent all night down by the riverside
+ Laughing at nothing, and talking too much.
+ And the moonlight was so bright in your eyes,
+ Before I knew it, I was falling in love.
"Hermione," Ron began, nervously patting a lock of her hair to the side of her face, and she stared inquisitively up at him to see what he wanted to say.
"What is it Ron?" she asked at last when he said nothing more. His response was a simple, "Oh, nothing."
+ It was too cold to swim, so we just lay there.
+ On the bank, till the break of day!
+ Though we never went in the water...
+ We were swept away.
Hermione reached up with her left arm and wrapped it around Ron's neck, breathing a tad more ragged than she had been earlier. "Ron," she whispered, bringing him so close that their faces were a mere few centimeters apart, "I want to take this further."
Their lips met softly, and Ron quickly pulled away as frightened, staring at her in confusion. Then, as if suddenly enlightened by an unseen force that no one else could detect in their presence, he leaned forward compellingly and locked his mouth to hers once more, this time daring to slip his tongue across her poufy lips, wetting them and smoothing them. Hermione gave a slight moan as he pulled it past her teeth, making her insides seer with a burning sensation she had never felt before.
+ And the river rolled, and the night got cold.
+ But you held me close, and you warmed my soul.
+ We spent all night down by the riverside...
+ Wondering how, it happened so fast.
+ And it sure did take us by surprise.
+ When the morning sun, came up at last.
Pulling away, Hermione and Ron smilied at each other with undeniable loving expressions, and then lay on the bank next to the enchanted river in each other's arms and fell asleep.
