I love Sam and Frodo's friendship in Lord of the Rings, so I wrote this from Sam's POV. I dedicate it to Jamie and Nikki, whom I will always be Sam to.
Because Sam loved Frodo
(A poem about friendship)
Shh, do you hear the whispers
see these dreams floating to shore
drink deep these tears from me, angel
I'll be here forever more
Rest now, I will be your watch
creating pillows from the sea
Close your eyes, linger no longer
Believe in your trust in me
I will watch your garden
Pour the water; watch it grow
believe my blanket will protect it
from the frost and falling snow
I will light your sun if I am able.
I will hang your moon if you don't ask
and I will weave a net for you
When you feel your strength has passed
From east the darkness beckons
feel this thumb beneath the thimble
as I sew stitches of hope for you
even though my fingers tremble
And forgive me if they're not perfection
please forgive me when they're wrong
because sometimes I loose my footing
when the clouds linger too long
I will watch your garden
Pour the water; watch it grow
believe my blanket will protect it
from the frost and falling snow
I will light your sun if I am able
I will hang your moon if you don't ask
And I will weave a net for you
When you feel your strength has passed
I will stand behind you
when you feel no one is there
I will crawl and cut the flowers
I will stand; give you my chair
And I will bare this cross for you
I will offer you my wings
If only so you'll know the comfort
being loved by someone brings
If only so you'll know the comfort
being loved by someone brings.
