Chapter 1: Sixteen Years Later

Can I control my birth?

Garnet Til Alexandros the 18th walked from the docking bay onto the ship The Hilda Garde IV. Uncle Cid had built the ship before he and Hilda had left mysteriously five years ago never to return. Eiko was a good queen though. She judged the people fairly.

She gave Alexandria a final glance. She had once again tried to reason with her father. Zidane Tribal was now a cold cruel man. Eiko told her that Zidane wasn't always like that. When he first met her mother, He was kind, careing, and would do anything for his friends. Garnet could not see that now. He shunned away those who Eiko told her were friends. Whenever her father looked to her all she could see was a shell. He blames me for Mother's death...He is probably right. She cared deeply for her father but sometimes, he scared her. The reigning king of Alexandria was a harsh ruler. What was once a happy prosperous kingdom was now something near a dictatorship. Eiko smiled to reassuredly. Garnet tried to smile in return. Eiko gave her a hug.

"Don't worry...I think you are coming through to him..." Eiko told her gently. Garnet pulled away.

"He hates me..."She answered looking down.

Eiko bit her lower lip. This happened every time she brought Garnet to visit her father. What scared her was the fact she was quite certain Zidane hated his daughter. Her heart went out for Garnet. She could not help her birth.

"Let's go home...I'll send for some of those fruits you like so much alright? Perhaps then we can go visit the industrial district. Garnet pulled away from her.

"Alright..." She answered in a distracted tone before dissappearing to her quarters.
