Stay or Go?

I stand here watching,
My bags all packed.
One question left on this fateful day:
Do I choose to stay or choose to go?

I stand here watching,
They leave in five.
I must decide now
Or be left behind.

If I stay here and live my life,
And my love dies in the fight,
As I watch him where he stands,
This is last I see him alive again.

If I go and help them win,
I might not return to earth again,
And I'll never see him or them once more,
Because I died fighting to win the war.

The time has come for me to choose,
I might win and I might lose.
Their commander turns and looks at me,
He asks the fateful question.

"The time has come for us to go,
The kids are coming and you can too,
You must decide now for the answer can't wait.
Do you choose to stay here or join us and go?"

I look into my partner's optics
And into the optics of the one I love,
They both know we might not return alive,
But still wish for me to go.

"I have decided,"
I finally say as silence spreads through the room.
"I will go with you,"
Is my final answer as blast off aproaches soon.
