Kagome sighed as she put down the script. Why did these people demand such unreasonable pairings? They were too blind to see what was right in front of them and handed to them on a silver platter, and they would only get worse.
"Something wrong?" A comforting voice muttered in her ear and soothing hands rubbed her shoulders. She sighed and leaned back into the massage. "Next 'line is with some guy named Kurama." Her masseur growled slightly, but she was too depressed to whack him. "Stop it. It's not something I can help. You know as well as I do that if these people knew anything about us they would never force us into these other 'lines."
"Still..." her companion replied. "You'd think they could at least write it well."
Kagome laughed. "If they did, it would be even worse! Think about it. Would you want to actually believe that you were in love with Kikyo? Or that Sesshomaru could claim a soul mate, much less me?"
Inuyasha stopped massaging and turned her around, catching her gaze. "I just wish..." Kagome half-smiled and touched his cheek. "I know. I wish that they would put us in realistic situations..."
"...with realistic pairings." Inuyasha finished his original thought. He repeated her unhappy sigh and dropped his head on her shoulder.
A loud whoosh alerted them to the forming portal. Kagome looked up with mournful eyes. "I'll see you in a bit." She set about dislodging him. Inuyasha reluctantly relinquished his position but grabbed her wrist just before she stepped into the vortex. She looked at him questioningly.
"I'll miss you." Her look lightened into a sad smile. "Same here." He let go and watched her vanish. With a final sigh, he picked up the script that would dictate his next storyline and began to look it over. Surprisingly, a smile started to form on his miserable face.
"InuKag..."
Maybe there was some hope.
