She was filled with envy of those children. Why shouldn't she be able to run and play like they did? It wasn't fair. Nothing in her life was fair anymore. Why did it have to be like this? It didn't. She would go outside and show them that she could do what they did. She wouldn't be held back anymore.
It was freezing cold outside, and all she had on was her nightdress and some house slippers. Oh, but the joy!!! It was so wonderful to be able to...to be able to...to be...able...
'Sayaka!! Sayaka, please, answer us!!' an unfamiliar voice said. She opened her eyes a bit and saw the same scene as always: at least a dozen doctors, and her parents, sick with worry, standing behind them. 'Oh, Sayaka,' her mother cried- literally. Sayaka tried to sit up, but the doctor who had first spoken gently pushed her right back down onto the table. 'You're not going to be moving around for a while, little missy,' he said good-naturedly. Sayaka didn't hear the rest of what he said. She was too consumed with thoughts of grief.
*Why couldn't I be normal, like them? What did I do?* Sayaka thought sadly. She just wished with all her heart that she could one day be a regular kid. Some day, she hoped. Some day...
A FEW YEARS LATER...
'Sayaka? Sayaka, please, answer m-' her mother stopped short, and screamed. Sayaka was sitting in the windowsill, just like always, only her eyes were glassed over, and she wasn't breathing. Sayaka floated next to her mother's side, trying to tug on her pant leg. 'Mommy...I'm right here. That's not me, Mommy...Mommy? Mommy?' But her mother didn't answer her. Sayaka floated away, crying softly.
'Oh my god...Sayaka...' her mother whispered, falling to her knees. 'Why? Why Sayaka?' she screamed. 'WHY?!'
That night, Sayaka floated over a far-distant rooftop, hugging her knees and rocking back and forth, sobbing. 'Mommy!!! Daddy!!!' she wailed to the darkness. 'Why can't you see me? Why?' But no one answered her lonely plea. All she heard was the sound of the wind, crying out to her, like an echo of her own sorrow, a partner in her solitude. Sayaka stood up and called out to it. 'Please, someone...come and play with me...I'm lonely...I want someone to play with...' But her request was obliterated within the wind's howls. Sayaka's face showed anger, something that she'd never experienced in life. 'BE QUIET!!!!' she screamed. And the wind was silent. Sayaka shouted her plea to the night, over and over again, but no one came. Finally, she sat back down, dejected. No one loved her...no one would miss her...she was alone.
That's all there is!!! I hope you guys liked it!! Oh, BTW, if you haven't read the YuYu Hakusho manga, I highly recommend you do!! There's some stuff in there that's different from the anime [duh] that you might find interesting. Well, again, please tell me how I did!! Arigatou! *bows* ~Neko-chan
