Title: The White Wizard
Author: daima_ashiki
Summary: The death and rebirth of Gandalf the White.
"The White Wizard"
I fought and died,
And for many a centuries time
I spent my days among the stars,
Floating through the beams of light
Which brighten the earth.
Time and place were of little importance to me
As there was no place I had to be
And no time I had to be there.
There was no weight, no form, no age.
Just being.
Until one day.
One day when what I was meant for
Was reentered into the great order
And I awoke
As if from a long sleep.
I could feel air rushing through my lungs
And the pounding beat of my heart.
My head was filled with images and thoughts.
I squeezed my eyes shut tight,
And when I opened them again
I found myself in a familiar place.
I could not remember its name at first,
But the tall, twisting trees
Seemed as an ancient home to me.
I knew in time I would gather many things from them
For I could clearly sense their wisdom and age.
Dressed all in white, I journeyed through their paths,
Everyday feeling a greater purpose and understanding
For why I was here
And what I was to do.
Many things came to me then
In the depths of Fangorn.
Many things I had long forgotten,
And many things I had never known.
I had begun to remember my past life
And had begun to see what this future one
Held in store not only for myself,
But for the world in which I now walked.
The knowing of past, present, and future, all in one mind,
For such is the being of a white wizard,
As I found myself to be.
