~*Celeborn's Lament*~
My garments seem drab and grey,
Limp in the evening's light,
The icy wind clings to them,
Toying with my hair as it chills,
Harsh in its justice to my soul.
The air lies silent under these woods,
Yet murmurs of grief still whisper from its heart,
There is a chill on the wind today, my love,
A bite that freezes my spirit,
Grief grips me like an iron fist,
Unrelenting, bending me to it's sorrowful will.
Together they ventured,
Together they fought,
Together they wept,
Together, they died.
Hope.
It seemed so near yet so far,
Doubt filled my sight,
Yet my mind followed the path upon which I was bound.
Tears.
They run so freely now I am lost.
No reason now to tarry,
No reason now to stay.
I ask not of you how many fell,
For my heart tells me enough to know.
No light laughter will carry anymore,
No carefree joy shall be heard,
No gleaming light in my children's eyes,
No lift in their soul.
Why did we have such hope?
Why could not we see?
Why must our minds be so deceptive in their ways?
Aiya! Why?
The fell wind will blow through our lands,
The waters will run crimson with our blood,
The trees, they will mourn us,
The mountains, they will scorn.
Ere the end doth come.
Ice.
It fills my heart today
