The Cruelty of War
Why did war always
have to be before peace?
Why couldn't people
see the horrors of this place?
I fight to defend my self,
to defend my sisters,
to help the ones I call my brothers
Defeat our human kin
I'll always follow my heart
follow what it tells me
For I wish others to be spared
The horrors that young eyes
Shouldn't befall
I was willing to give my life
My innocence if need be
To wipe clean other's hearts
Of hatred, fear, and violence
I'd only wish to fight once
Never wanting to relive it
I'd give my life for another
To make others see
The wrongs that I've seen
How many more lives
Must we take?
How much more blood
Must we spill?
Tell me god
I don't know
I want it all to end
The nightmares, the screams
I want to live in peace
Free of violence
Please, I beg of you
Don't you think
that we have suffered enough
just to keep living this way?
Let the peace be real
Let it last
