"Shut up and keep fighting!" yelled Hiei, quickly slicing three of the things. They continued on, fighting until they were tired and could barely stand. Kuwabara was no longer able to use his spirit sword, and was now using his fists to beat off the slimy, green things. They had been fighting for hours, until finally, Hiei sliced the head of the final one cleanly off. He sheathed his sword and turned to Kuwabara, who was breathing heavily, sweat dripping down his face.
"Let's go." Hiei said, and started towards an old path He had taken no more than three steps before a large, disgusting creature emerged from the trees behind them. It was a large, red-eyed dog, a demon one, no doubt. It was a dingy grey-blue color, and it had large bald spots covering its body, as if it had mange. Kuwabara gawked at the thing, his eyes wide and his jaw hanging open.
"Stop gawking you fool and prepare yourself." Hiei said, hurrying to Kuwabara's side.
The dog growled and bared it's long, menacing fangs. Kuwabara stepped back, ready to run.
"It's… It's so powerful…" He muttered in awe.
"You cannot get the item so easily! You will have to go through me if you truly want it!" The dog demon barked in its booming voice. It lunged at Kuwabara, but he dodged. It lunged at Kuwabara again, and its large crushing jaws almost closed on his arm, but it only got away with the sleeve of his jacket. Hiei jumped onto the head of the giant beast and raised his sword above him. Kuwabara summoned his spirit sword, and at the same time, they struck the large demon dog. It fell over, shrunk, and died.
"He didn't put up much of a fight. Know, back to business." Kuwabara muttered, and he followed Hiei, who had started towards the old path again.
"It's just down this path. We should be there in no time." Hiei said, not bothering to look back.
An hour later, ("Hiei, I though you said we'd be there in no time, you little shrimp!") they came upon an old rundown shack. Thunder crashed above their head as lighting flew through the sky.
"We're here." said Hiei and kicked open the door.
They stepped inside and saw a mess. They began to search for the missing object, but after several hours, they still had not found it.
"We'll never find it in this mess." said Kuwabara.
"We might have more luck if we cle--…" started Hiei, but stopped when he realized what he was saying.
"Well then. Let's get cleaning." said Kuwabara, and so they began. They cleaned for three hours straight.
"Hey, I found it!" exclaimed Kuwabara as he pulled a glowing jewel from a grimy old bag.
"Good. Now we can go…" Hiei said with a yawn.
"I don't think that'll be possible, Hiei. Look." Kuwabara said. The shack was atop a high hill, and the area around the hill was flooded. They would have to stay in the shack until the water receded.
They sat in silence for the first few hours, listening to the rain. Then, Kuwabara suggested they do something to pass the time. Hiei agreed, and soon they were playing "Catch Hiei if you can". It took Kuwabara several hours to successfully capture Hiei. Soon after, the two passed out from exhaustion
As they silently slept near each other, a demon centipede slithered away from Kuwabara. It made it's way up the wall and into the rafters, where it was killed.
"Ch. I can't believe they're interfering"
"Shh! They can't know we're here"
"Right."
